Merrick Brand was purchased by Nestle Purina in 2015.

They are not a Purina food, do not associate much with Purina, and from what we understand, they independently operate their own facilities.

Merrick Pet Foods manufacture the following brands (sub-brands):

• Merrick
• Castor and Pollux
• Whole Earth Farms
• Zuke’s

Merrick does not have a single qualified nutritionist for any of their brands, however they do employ one Veterinarian and two food scientists. Their work is spread across the brand offerings and formulas listed above which include dry foods, wet foods, raw-infused blends, toppers, and treats.

It is is believed that they have some access to the Purina research and nutrition formulation team. This does NOT meant that their foods have been formulated by that team, or even looked over by a qualified nutritionist, but it does give them a leading edge when it comes to nutrition science and formulation (should they choose to thoughtfully utilize that resource).
